Questions and answers

What's in the real theory test?

The NZ car (Class 1) theory test has 35 multiple-choice questions. You need 32 correct to pass, and you have 30 minutes. Our practice tests use the same format.

How many tests do I get?

10 tests per purchase. Each one is a full practice test: 35 questions, timed like the real test. A test counts as used when you start it. Need more? Buy again with the same email address and the new tests are added to your account, with your progress carried over.

Do tests expire?

No. There's no time limit and no subscription: use your tests whenever you like. Your dashboard and the review of your past tests stay available even after you've used them all.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. You get a full refund within 7 days of purchase if you have taken fewer than 2 full practice tests. Your Consumer Guarantees Act rights apply as well. See the refund policy.

What devices does it work on?

Any recent phone, tablet or computer with a web browser. On a phone you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app (see the tips below). Tests need an internet connection.

Is this the official NZTA test?

No. GiveWayGo is an unofficial practice tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or produced by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi. Book and sit your real test through NZTA. Practising here can't guarantee a pass.
